This is actually daddy's rocking chair from when he was a little thing. His mum brought it over to him years ago, and both the girls have used it. But Victoria has decided it belongs to her, calling out "mine" whenever I go near it.

Whew, busy weekend
This weekend started out with Andrew having 3 days off and us just chilling out. Friday night, we went to a friends house, and then when I got home, the phone rang and it was my Aunt, that I had made plans with to come over this weekend, like 4 weeks ago and completely forgot. Good thing she called. Anyway, we got up at 8am Saturday morning, and did the nearly 2 hour drive to their house, had lunch, went to the park, had dinner, and then drove home. It was a lovely visit, Victoria was very well behaved, and she only had a 30 min nap on my shoulder at the park. I managed to keep her awake the whole car ride home, so she went to bed on time, and I went out to Mojo's (a dueling piano bar) with a friend. It was the first time I have been out in a long time. And I had a fantastic time. Today, however, Andrew and I have both felt ill all day. We are both exhausted (it didn't help that I got home at 12:30am!) and feeling under the weather. Victoria has been a bit crabby today as well. Andrew has tomorrow off work (YAY!!!) and we are spending the day together as a family. Hopefully, Victoria will take a nice long nap tomorrow and we can too!

Daddy and the dollies
Victoria loves to stack all her baby dolls in a line along her daddy when he is laying down and then she clears a spot for herself in the middle...its so cute when she brings all her babies to him.

I am so not looking forward to this
This just makes my eyes fill with tears..time goes so fast
I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crispy dress...with two blue eyes...and a happy laugh that ripples all day long.. and a flash of curly brown hair that bounces in the sun when she runs.
I trust you'll treat her well.
She's slipping out of the backyard of my heart this morning...and skipping off down the street to her first day of school. And never again will she be completely mine.
Prim and proud she'll wave her young and independent hand this morning and say "Goodbye" and walk with little lady steps to the schoolhouse.
Now she'll learn to stand in lines...and wait by the alphabet for her name to be called. She'll learn to tune her ears for the sounds of school-bells...and deadlines...and she'll learn to giggle...and gossip...and look at the ceiling in a disinterested way when the little boy 'cross the aisle sticks out his tongue at her. And now she'll learn to be jealous. And now she'll learn how it is to feel hurt inside. And now she'll learn how not to cry.
No longer will she have time to sit on the front porch on a summer day and watch an ant scurry across the crack in the sidewalk. Nor will she have time to pop out of bed with the dawn and kiss lilac blooms in the morning dew. No, now she'll worry about those important things...like grades and which dress to wear and whose best friends is whose. And the magic of books and learning will replace the magic of her blocks and dolls. And now she'll find new heroes.
For five full years now I've been her sage and Santa Claus and pal and playmate and mother and friend. Now she'll learn to share her worship with her teachers ...which is only right. But no longer will I be the smartest woman in the whole world. Today when that school bell rings for the first time...she'll learn what it means to be a member of the group...with all its privileges and its disadvantages too.
She'll learn in time that proper young ladies do not laugh out loud...or kiss dogs...or keep frogs in pickle jars in bedrooms...or even watch ants scurry across cracks in sidewalks in the summer.
Today she'll learn for the first time that all who smile at her are not her friends. And I'll stand on the front porch and watch her start out on the long, lonely journey to becoming a woman.
So, world, I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crispy dress...with two blue eyes...and a flash of curly brown hair that bounces in the sunlight when she runs.
I trust you'll treat her well.

Why God made little girls
This just melts my heart:
Why God Made Little Girls
Author Unknown
God made the world with towering trees,
Majestic mountains and restless seas.
Then paused and said , "It needs one more thing...
Someone to laugh and dance and sing.
To walk in the wood and gather flowers...
To commune with nature in quiet hours."
So God made little girls
With laughing eyes and bouncing curls,
With joyful hearts and infectious smiles,
Enchanting ways and feminine wiles.
And when He'd completed the task He'd begun.
He was pleased and proud of the job He'd done.
For the world, when seen through little girl's eyes
Greatly resembled Paradise.

In the 30's...
No, not the weather, although I would take 30's over the 90's anyday....only 39 days till Granny arrives!!!!! We are so very excited. It seems like forever ago that she was here last Christmas, and we can't wait for her to see how much Victoria has grown since she left. Victoria wasn't even crawling when Granny was here, and only saying a word or two (mama and Hi, thanks to Granny!) and now she is talking constantly and running all over the place. We can't wait to see their reactions to each other, so I hope this next 39 days fly by, but the 12 after that go in slow motion.
Christmas last year with Granny, and one taken last night (see how much she has grown!!!):

Thursday Thirteen
This is my first time ever doing a TT, and it's going to be about 13 adorable things Victoria does.
1. She loves to be alone, and will take her books and run to her room to read and if you we go back there, she screams at us.
2. When she is ready to go down for a nap, she will let me know and actually ask to be put in her crib.
3. If she is too tired at bedtime, and I attempt to read her a story, she grabs the book away from me and closes it and lays down.
4. Lately, when I am telling her off, she puts her fingers in her ears and goes "la la la"...I don't know how long this will stay adorable.
5. When she hasn't seen her sister for a week, she squeals upon seeing her in a way that I only hear when she sees her sister.
6. When I try to wake her up in the morning and she isn't ready to get up, she screams "Stop it mama".
7. When I tell her to do something, and she says "no" and I say "yes"...she will keep saying "no" over and over again.
8. She sings all day everyday. It's adorable that I can start a song and she can sing part of it. If we do ABC's...I say one letter and she says the next.
9. When I tell her to come over to me and she doesn't listen and I start counting..once I say "one"...she looks at me and goes "two, three four"...and just giggles.
10. She closes her eyes and tries to walk around with them closed.
11. After watching Happy Feet too many times, she attempts to walk like a penguin. It's hilarious.
12. The way she now says love when saying goodnight...comes out like lie oooo....so stinking cute!
13. The way her face lights up when she sees the Merry Go Round at the mall, and after riding it 3 times (she is never content unless its 3 times) she has to pat several horses "goodbye".

WOW
I never knew blogs could have such lovely backgrounds! But thanks to Kellie, I have been going thru a bunch of them. I have settled on one I like so far, but I am sure it will change as I find better ones. So bear with me if my page looks different.
